Each Employer Academy will:

  • Enable Students to interact with professional persons within specific Industries, related to their study programme, through: Specialist speakers
  • Work place visits or industry relevant visits
  • One-day a week Work Placements
  • Project work; designed by the Employer
  • Attend industry specific master classes
  • Obtain real and transferrable employability skills, knowledge and practical experience
  • Have the opportunity to gain paid part-time work
  • All students will have a guaranteed interview at the end of the course for a job or apprenticeship opportunities
  • Potential to transition into an apprenticeship

The Employer will be able to:

  • Contribute to the course content to ensure industry relevant material is delivered and taught to the students
  • Mould the students with real employability skills, knowledge and practical experience – suited to the employer
  • Provide the Students with company specific uniform, therefore easily identified as being part of particular Employer Academy
  • Interview the students at the end of their course for Apprenticeship opportunities within the Employer Academy’s company
  • Take part in developing and designing the curriculum to meet their specific company needs, this could include induction training, health and safety awareness and teaching cultural values
  • Raise awareness of their organisation and the career opportunities for young people
  • Reduce the cost of training
  • Reduce the cost of recruitment
  • Develop existing staff skills knowledge through mentoring programmes

The Partnership will include:

  • Continuous promotion of the Employer Academies via all available channels through both Derby College and the Employer Academy – this will include targeting and informing Students of this opportunity during the College’s enrolment period
  • Monthly review / progress meetings of the Academy and of the Students
  • An official launch of all Employer Academy’s at the end of September
  • Various Employer Academy Celebration events throughout the Academic Year, Christmas, Spring and End of Year
  • Networking opportunities and a Celebration Event

Are you looking for affordable and motivated Hospitality staff?

We can provide you with hospitality staff to cover casual shifts, flexible hours from our enthusiastic and employable student cohort. We already work with a number of large hospitality and event organisations in Derby to supply them with staff in the following areas:

  • Bar Staff – must be age 18+
  • Drink Service – Bar to table service
  • Glass collectors – Tables and pre drinks bar
  • Food service - Waiting on Tables
  • Event set up – preparing venue for service
  • Kitchen work – preparing food
  • Porters – in kitchen
