Who is this course for?
The Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills provides employees with the practical skills, behaviours and knowledge needed to step confidently into first‑line or aspiring leadership roles.
This qualification provides skills and knowledge for those entering the management sector for roles including Team Leader; Supervisor; Project Officer; Shift Manager; and Foreperson.
It reflects the modern workplace, addressing wellbeing, data‑driven decision‑making, effective communication and people‑centred leadership.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, it is recommended to have a minimum of five GCSEs at grades A – C/grade 4 or above, including Maths and English. Learners must have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership practice in their role.
What will you learn?
Learners will complete one mandatory unit and three optional units, allowing us to design the programme around your organisation’s specific priorities.
Mandatory Unit
301 – Developing Effective Leadership Skills: this unit develops practical leadership capabilities and explores leadership styles, emotional intelligence, team dynamics and personal leadership effectiveness.
Example Optional Units
304 – Supporting Wellbeing in the Workplace: this unit explores key wellbeing factors, leadership responsibilities and practical approaches to supporting individual and team wellbeing.
312 – Effective Communication: this unit develops the ability to communicate confidently across a range of workplace situations, overcome communication barriers, and build strong working relationships.
307 – Managing and Implementing Change: this unit equips learners with practical tools to plan, deliver and evaluate change, helping teams to navigate transitions effectively.

This course will be delivered at your workplace.
What will you need to bring with you?
There are no additional costs as ILM membership is included within the course fees.
How will you be assessed?
Assessment is portfolio‑based, allowing learners to evidence their leadership practice in real workplace scenarios. This includes reflective accounts, observations, workplace documents and other evidence.
Where next?
This qualification may provide progression opportunities to other ILM qualifications such as the ILM Level 5 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Leadership and Management Skills.
