Derby College has a Learner Support Fund which can help you towards the costs associated with studying.
It is available to students aged 19+ who are enrolled on further education courses, either full-time or part-time, and who meet the eligibility criteria. Funding is not available for students on apprenticeships, higher education or full-cost courses where other funding rules may apply. You must also meet the residency criteria.
If you are eligible, you can receive financial support to help pay towards course-related costs such as equipment, trips, travel, childcare and essential books. The College will, wherever possible, make these payments on your behalf.
The Learner Support Fund for 19+ learners is finite and is not an entitlement.
Students who are eligible may also include those who:
If you’re looking to start a full-time or part-time further education course with us from September and think that you may be eligible for Learner Support Fund assistance, please download the application form from the end of August. Bring your completed form with you to enrolment or call into one of our campuses and ask for the learner support fund.
If you are going to be 20 or over when you start your course and require childcare funding support, you will need to contact the learner support fund as soon as possible. Derby College childcare funding application forms are released during early July prior to the start of the academic year. Childcare funding is awarded strictly on a firstcome, first-served basis and there is always a greater demand than the amount of funding available.
If you are under 20 when you commence your course and require childcare funding, please contact the learner support fund as you will be able to apply to Care to Learn for your childcare support.
Please download a copy of the application form below and return it to the Student Support Fund Team.
