The course is delivered on-site at Broomfield Hall.

You will be required to supply your own:

  • Suitable tools and equipment in a tool box e.g. secateurs and scissors. (You will be advised what you require during Induction Week.)

Business is blooming for Sarah-May

The course appealed to me in the first place because it gave a lot more than just floristry – it was quite detailed. It went into business planning, admin, spreadsheets, legislation relating to the workplace and insurance. I learned about design and interior design and costings. On the floristry side, I didn't know much about flowers, or even most of their names when I started. I was at college fulltime for two years and leaned all I needed to know to start off. Put it like this - I don't think I'd be standing here without it.

A national reputation for wedding floristry

An interest in flowers has stayed with me since childhood – and, as the years went by, I was determined to move away from a conventional career and dedicate my working life to creating something I love. I thoroughly enjoyed the learning process at Derby College, gaining insights from professional tutors who really knew what they were doing and being part of a varied group of learners who all contributed different skills, knowledge and perspectives.
