Course Information for Students

This course is aimed at learners wishing to gain an introduction to the floristry world. You will learn basic floristry techniques for producing creative and viable designs.

There will be two practical units and two design units to complete to attain the Certificate, but you can choose whether you would like to undertake the formal qualification or not.

You will need three GCSEs at grade C/4 or above.

You should also have a standard of English and maths equivalent to Functional Skills Level 1.

If you are a mature learner, we will be able to take into consideration your previous experience in your chosen subject. Applicants will be interviewed and will undertake an initial assessment in English and maths.

The course will cover:

  • Design
  • Sampling
  • Traditional flower arrangements for table décor
  • Contemporary flower arrangements for free-standing displays

The course is delivered on-site at Broomfield Hall.

You will be required to supply your own:

  • Apron
  • Closed-toe flat shoes
  • Toolkit such as scissors and secateurs
  • Flowers, foliage and sundries
  • Writing materials

There will be two practical units and two design units to complete for the Certificate, which includes assessments of practical designs plus a portfolio.

You could progress to further study in floristry.
