You will be part of the Services UK Engineering Electrical Design team. We are responsible for all aspects of electrical design changes related to our large legacy in-service fleet portfolio.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Develop electrical installation/wiring solutions for modifications developed by the System's team or from external 3rd parties and handle/manage the upkeep of the affected core electrical data
  • This involves updating electrical schematics, wiring tables
  • BOMs (Bill of Materials), creating harness stick diagrams & cable installation routing diagram
  • Prepare modification design data, analyze, develop, test and demonstrate Electrical Engineering solutions that solve complex issues for vehicle installation requirements
  • Provide electrical design cost and schedule estimates on complicated engineering programs
  • Attend Alstom and customer sites to carry out on-train surveys during the various phases of design and implementation activity
  • Respond promptly to (TQ's) technical queries raised by the customer against design data
  • Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will be required, to work at height and in enclosed spaces, from time to time
