About Derby College Group

The vision of Derby College Group (DCG) is ‘to make bright futures a reality for all’.

This vision and the DCG 2025-2028 Strategy reflect an ambition to inspire every DCG learner to be aspirational about what they can go on to achieve, even if that may be beyond what they might initially consider to be impossible for them.

DCG is dedicated to delivering an excellent education as a catalyst for success in work, life, and society. By doing so, the Group helps create a strong talent pipeline for employers while advancing social justice across Derby city, Derbyshire, the wider Midlands region and beyond. Its strategic priorities and objectives are firmly rooted in this purpose.

The Group’s dynamic and responsive curriculum is shaped by local social priorities and emerging skills needs. It is informed through strategic dialogue with employers and key stakeholders, strengthened by robust market intelligence, and supported by close relationships with civic partners such as the East Midlands County Combined Authority (EMCCA), local authorities, and other agencies.

DCG’s thriving partnerships with a wide range of employers underpin the co-design and co-delivery of its education programmes and career pathways. These collaborations ensure that students are well prepared to progress into employment, higher education, entrepreneurship or to contribute positively within their communities. The Group empowers learners of all ages and backgrounds by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to succeed in education, work and life.

A truly diverse organisation, DCG comprises four Colleges: the Roundhouse, the Joseph Wright Centre, Broomfield Hall and the Community College, Ilkeston. Each year, it supports thousands of learners – from post-16 students on academic and technical routes to apprentices at all levels, higher education students, and adults looking to progress, upskill or reskill. The Group also plays a vital role in helping young people move into education, employment or training.
