About Us
Derby College is one of the largest and most successful Further Education Colleges in the UK. It was created in March 2002 following the three-way merger of Derby Tertiary College Wilmorton, Broomfield College and Mackworth College Derby. Since then it has grown to become a trusted education provider with an enviable reputation for innovation, quality and inclusion.
February 2010, saw a further merger between Derby College and South East Derbyshire College.
One of the College's key strengths is its extensive choice of subjects and qualifications which makes for a buzzing campus atmosphere. We have more than 5,791 full-time students and more than 16,296 part-time students, who are studying at a variety of levels and cater for all needs and aspirations.
Our portfolio covers everything from GCSEs to degrees, vocational courses to adult education, apprenticeships to bespoke solutions for business. Flexible study options mean that learners can study at a pace that suits their lifestyle and commitments. Clear progression routes ensure all our students gain a real sense of purpose and direction as they work towards their goals.
The College spans six main sites in and around Derby, with easy access to this progressive city's many attractions as well as the beautiful Peak District. Each campus has a distinctive character and function but each boasts high-calibre learning facilities and excellent student support. The Joseph Wright Centre is an exciting contemporary base for academic studies, the Prince Charles Avenue site offers outstanding sports facilities; Broomfield Hall provides specialist land-based studies within the superb setting of a working farm estate; Masons Place in Chaddesden is a dedicated industry-standard training facility for a variety of trades. And, the iconic Roundhouse campus opened in September 2009 offering a varied range of programmes and brand new purpose built facilities for Hair and Beauty and Catering.
South East Derbyshire Mundy Street Campus and Field Road Campus. Field Road facilities include an industry-standard hair and beauty salon and purpose-built technology centre. The Mundy Street campus is equipped with specialist facilities for Art and Design, Photography, TV, Graphics, Games Development, Web Design and Science. There is also a specialist Learning Resource Centre with internet access and a café.
Our dedicated team of expert staff delivers first-class teaching and support to help our learners make the grade.
