6-Week Taster Programme

This free programme is tailored to 16-24 year olds with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who want to take the next step towards education, employment, or training.

This hands-on, SEND-specific taster course helps you build confidence, practical skills, and real-world experience to prepare for your future.

It’s the perfect stepping stone into the world of work — with supportive tutors, real-life learning, and experiences that will boost your confidence and open new doors.

What You’ll Do

Learn essential customer service skills for real-world employment
Experience hospitality and retail through fun, interactive tasters
Gain hands-on practice in our café and on-site retail shop
Grow your confidence and discover what you’re capable of

You’ll Gain

CV writing and interview preparation
A clear progression plan into mainstream DCG programmes or employment
A certificate of completion and celebration event

You will also benefit from

Wraparound 1:1 support from a designated Supported Employment Officer (SEO) from Derby City Council

Programme Details

Start Date: 5th December
Duration: 6 weeks
Sessions: Every Thursday and Friday, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
