From classroom to career – Leah Biggs’ success in Sport and Fitness
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of Leah Biggs, a dedicated and driven sports student whose journey through our Sport and Fitness programmes at Derby College Group (DCG) has already led to exciting professional success.
Leah recently completed her Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instruction and wasted no time in putting her skills into practice. Shortly after qualifying in July, Leah secured a role at Manor Health and Racquets Club in Ilkeston, where she now works as a Fitness Instructor.
This position marks the beginning of her career in the health and fitness industry – a sector she has prepared for throughout her studies at DCG.
Currently progressing through her Level 3 in Personal Training at DCG, Leah is continuing to develop her knowledge and expand her career opportunities.
At Manor Health and Racquets Club, she supports members on the gym floor and leads popular group exercise classes, including HIIT, Circuits, and Tabata.
Leah’s story is a fantastic example of how hard work, commitment, and a proactive approach to career development can lead to real-world opportunities. Her ability to manage her time, maintain professional standards, and continue her education is a credit to her strong work ethic.
Patrick Green, Teacher of Sport at DCG, said:
“Leah has been an outstanding student throughout her time with us. She combines professionalism with enthusiasm, and it’s been fantastic to see her grow in confidence and secure a role in the fitness industry so quickly.
“Leah is a brilliant role model for other students who aspire to turn their passion for sport and fitness into a career.”
Leah added:
“Studying at Derby College Group has given me the knowledge, confidence, and qualifications I needed to start my career. The support from my teachers and the opportunities on the course have been amazing.
“I’m really enjoying working at Manor Health and Racquets Club, and I’m excited to keep developing as a personal trainer while helping people achieve their fitness goals.”
We are incredibly proud of Leah’s achievements. She has shown outstanding dedication throughout her time at DCG, and it is wonderful to see her thriving in the industry she has studied for.
Leah is a great example of what our students can achieve, and we look forward to seeing how her career continues to develop.
The support from my teachers and the opportunities have been amazing.
