Derby College Group Celebrates Exceptional A Level, T Level and BTEC Results

From 8 am this morning, hundreds of Derby College Group (DCG) students will be collecting their A Level, T Level and BTEC results, marking a major milestone in their academic journeys and opening the door to exciting next steps in university, apprenticeships, and employment.

This year’s achievements are a testament to the determination, talent and hard work of students and staff alike, with standout successes across all qualifications.

Derby College Group is immensely proud of its students’ efforts, recognising these results as a vital stepping stone towards their future aspirations and broader contributions to society.

A Level Highlights

The majority of A Level students have secured the grades needed to progress to their first-choice university, reflecting both their hard work and the quality of teaching at DCG.

327 A Level students, with over three-quarters achieving higher grades.
Outstanding results in Psychology: half achieved A*–B, with a 100% pass rate.

Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, Business Studies and Media Studies also recorded excellent results.

Criminology remained the most popular subject, taken by over a third of students, with three-quarters achieving A*–C and a 100% pass rate.

Expansion of subjects to include Arabic, Urdu and Russian for the first time.
101 students completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), with half gaining an A* or A, showcasing advanced research and project skills highly valued by universities.

T Level Triumphs

85 T Level students across seven subjects – a quarter achieved a Distinction (equivalent to three A grades at A Level), with 91% achieving Merit or above.
In Construction: Design, Surveying and Planning, half achieved a Distinction, underlining DCG’s recognition this week, as one of only nine UK institutions, and the lead organisation for the East Midlands, to become a Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC).
Education and Early Years T Level students excelled, with 60% achieving a Distinction, a course well oversubscribed for the next academic year.

BTEC Brilliance

950 students received Level 3 BTEC results, with almost half achieving a Distinction.
These vocational qualifications provide a practical, career-focused route into employment, apprenticeships, or higher education – a proven stepping stone to future success.

Celebrating Futures

Matt Ridgill, Assistant Principal for Academic Education of Derby College Group, said:

“We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements this year. These results are the culmination of years of hard work, resilience, and determination, qualities that will serve them well in the future. Whether progressing to university, starting an apprenticeship, or moving into employment, our students leave us with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed. I also want to thank our dedicated staff for the support, guidance, and inspiration they provide every single day.”

DCG Principal Mandie Stravino OBE added:

“Today is about celebrating every individual’s success story. Academic results are just one part of their journey; the personal growth, friendships, and experiences our students have gained will stay with them for life. We look forward to seeing them thrive in the years ahead.”
