Entry Requirements
- English and Maths at grade 1, equivalent, or below
- Attendance at transition events to ensure readiness and engagement
This course suits learners who are motivated to work in caring professions and committed to developing both practical and academic skills for future opportunities.
What will you learn?
You will learn about caring for children and adults, health and safety, safeguarding, and communication skills. The course also includes English and maths development through functional skills or GCSE, helping you build confidence and prepare for further study or employment in care settings.
How will you learn?
Learning takes place through classroom-based lessons, practical activities, and group work. You’ll explore real-life scenarios and develop problem-solving skills, alongside improving your English and maths to support your future career in health, social care, or childcare.
What will you need to bring with you?
- Stationery: pens, pencils, and a notebook
- Suitable clothing for practical activities (comfortable and professional)
- PPE if required for specific tasks (e.g. gloves for hygiene activities)
How will you be assessed?
- Coursework and assignments based on health and social care topics, as well as practical tasks and observations
- Portfolio of evidence showcasing your progress and completed projects in Digital Skills, Personal Development and Sustainability, as well as engagement with employers
- Functional Skills or GCSE exams in English and Maths, including final exams for GCSE if applicable
