Who is this course for?
This course is for students who have complete our Basic BSL course and are considering studying Level 1 BSL but would like some additional practice to build their confidence.
Entry Requirements
Learners should have completed our Basic BSL course or have some basic BSL knowledge.
Student will need to have sufficient manual dexterity, sight and facial movement to produce and receive BSL.
What will you learn?
The course will recap on the following areas:
- Deaf Awareness, greetings, alphabet
- Asking questions, expressing emotions
- Using numbers, time and celebrations
- Family
- Colours
- Calendar
- Food and Drink
- Animals and pets
How will you learn?
In classes with group work and practical sessions
What will you need to bring with you?
No resources necessary however you may wish to bring a folder to store handouts, and paper and pen to take notes
How will you be assessed?
At the end of the course, learners will be assessed. You will receive feedback to support your continued improvement and on your suitability for enrolling on the Level 1 Award in BSL.
Where next?
This course has been designed specifically to support learners who have completed our Basic BSL course but would benefit from a refresher prior to studying at Level 1.
The skills learnt will also be beneficial for communicating with other BSL users at home or work.
