Who is this course for?
This qualification aims to provide the learner with the knowledge, skills and understanding to safely and effectively provide basic treatment to one or more species of animal.
Entry Requirements
The minimum age for candidates taking this course is 16 years.
What will you learn?
The qualification has one unit which includes:
- health and safety
- legislation relating to the use of veterinary medicines
- signs of health and ill health in various species
- safe and correct procedures for administering veterinary medicines
- the procedures for monitoring the animal’s response and the actions taken in the case of an emergency

This course will be delivered on-site at Broomfield Hall

How will you be assessed?
The assessment has two parts. Knowledge is assessed by an online computer test (evolve). Practical knowledge is assessed with a one-to-one practical assessment to cover the practices involved with storing and administering veterinary medicines.

Learners can progress to the Level 3 Award in Planning and Supervising the Safe Use of Veterinary Medicines.
