Do you enjoy gaming?

Do you love the idea of competitive gaming and the challenge of difficult games? Would you like an understanding of how the professional Esports industry works? Perhaps you’d like a career as a professional gamer or to study Esports at university?

Endorsed by The British Esports Association, the Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Esports will give you a solid foundation in understanding how the Esports industry works. It is a career-focused course with industry endorsement that will enable you to develop your underpinning knowledge, technical and transferable skills and to gain experience in a variety of different sections of the Esports industry.

Equivalent in size to three A-levels, the Level 3 National Extended Diploma is designed to be studied as part of a two-year study programme and will allow you access to employment in a wider range of Esports areas. This qualification also offers you the opportunity to progress to further study and higher education.

If you would like to develop a range of skills within the Esports and related industries, then this is the qualification for you.

Typically, you will have at least five GCSEs graded A*- C/9 – 4, including English Language and Maths. Alternatively, you may have equivalent intermediate qualifications at Merit grade or above, along with GCSE grade 4/C in English Language and Maths.

Importantly, a university application will probably require five GCSEs graded C/4 or above, including both English Language and Maths GCSE at grade 4/C or above.

The qualification is equivalent in size to three A-levels.

You will study mandatory units:

  • Unit 1: Introduction to Esports
  • Unit 2: Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis
  • Unit 3: Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry
  • Unit 4: Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players
  • Unit 5: Esports Events

The mandatory content allows you to develop your technical skills across the different unit areas. Performance in all units is graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction. These unit grades are then converted into points and added together to determine the overall grade for the qualification.

While you will attend guided learning directed by tutors, you will also be expected to carry out private independent study and research as well as to prepare and undertake assessments for each unit.

This course will be delivered on-site.

Games design course at DCG leads Charles to world’s first dedicated esports HE college

I had a look at the course and saw that part of it involved games design, so thought ‘Why not? Let’s go for it.’  “My teachers, Ami and Josh, were fantastic, and the friends I made at Derby College made my time there all the better.  “The course content was quite challenging but that made it possible to aim for higher grades. I left with a distinction star.
