This Diploma is suitable for anyone who works in a healthcare environment.

You need to be working in an appropriate role in a healthcare environment.
What will you learn?
This qualification gives learners the opportunity to develop wider knowledge to underpin their occupational competence, specialising in one of the following areas:
- adult support worker
- theatre support worker
- mental health support worker
- maternity support worker
- children and young people support worker
- allied health (therapy) support worker
This includes knowledge and understanding of the requirements of personal development in care settings, safeguarding and protection in care settings, mental health problems, infection prevention and control, mental wellbeing, duty of care in care settings and promoting person-centred approaches in care settings.
You will develop a positive attitude to following codes of practice and professional behaviours such as effective communication and building relationships, delivering training through demonstration and instruction, promoting positive behaviour, and promoting personal development.
How will you learn?
You will be supported by your assessor on either a one-to-one or group basis. This will entail a combination of face-to-face and remote contact.
What will you need to bring with you?
There are no special requirements.
How will you be assessed?
You will produce a portfolio of evidence and will be assessed via a variety of methods such as written tasks, reflective accounts and observations in the workplace.
Where next?
You could advance to further study and consider promotion opportunities. This qualification could, for example, be a stepping stone into nursing training.
