Course Information for Students

This course is suitable for any participant wanting to achieve an NPTC award in the safe use of a manually fed woodchipper. 

The minimum age for candidates taking this course is 16 years. 

During the training you will cover the following outcomes:

  • Know the health and safety requirements for operating a woodchipper
  • Be able to carry out a risk assessment on a site
  • Be able to prepare the equipment and site for woodchipping operations
  • Be able to operate a woodchipper
  • Carry out maintenance on a woodchipper

This course will be delivered on-site at Broomfield Hall.

You will be required to supply your own: 

  • Steel toe-capped boots
  • Writing materials
  • Lunch (there will be facilities on-site if you wish to purchase your lunch here)

Candidates will complete a practical test with one-to-one verbal questioning which will take place on a separate day.
