Who is this course for?
This one-day introductory course is designed for anybody who has an interest in lambing. Maybe you already have some sheep – or are planning to get some – and would like to increase your knowledge and practical capabilities.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. All you need is an interest in the subject and to be prepared to do practical work such as handling lambs.
Please note if you are pregnant – or a woman trying to become pregnant – this course will be unsuitable for you, as you should not go near a lambing ewe.

The course will cover:
- Handling techniques
- Preparation for lambing
- Housing and care requirements
- Feeding
- Lambing
- Lamb tasks
- Veterinary treatment
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
You will be required to supply your own:
- Steel toe-capped boots or wellingtons
- Overalls
- Writing materials
- Lunch
How will you be assessed?
There is informal assessment and feedback throughout the day.
