Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care – Level 3
This two year vocations course leads to a recognised qualification for entering health and social care professions or further training such as university courses. It combines academic study and work placement.

Course Information for Students
Who is this course for?
This is a two year vocational course leading to an Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. It is ideal for those who wish to work within the health or social care sector or further their studies on a higher apprenticeship or university course. It has a mandatory work placement element for you to gain experience of what it is like to work within different health and social care settings.
Entry Requirements
An interview is essential and you will need the following:
- Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 including Maths and English Language
OR
- An overall Merit or Distinction in a relevant Level 2 course and GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 9-4
Evidence of good attendance is also required. Voluntary work or work experience is desirable. You will also required to be DBS checked.

How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on-site.
What will you need to bring with you?
You need practical, smart clothing and shoes for your placement. You must also cover your travel costs to your placement.
You will need to apply and pay for your DBS check.
How will you be assessed?
You will be assessed through coursework with internally set assignments, this includes carrying out clinical skills practical assessments, academic posters, professional discussion, presentations and written reports. You are expected to integrate the experience you gain on placement into your assignments.
There are two exams in Year 1 and a further two in Year 2.
You will progress onto year 2 upon successful completion of year 1.
