What will you learn?
Graduates with animal expertise of all forms need to have the skills and confidence to communicate in the working world. Communication is a core skill in being able to affect change, and that is the goal of this module. You will develop your critical thinking skills along the way and learn how to apply this skill within different communication media.
The content of the module will revolve around the application of animal welfare theories within society and legislation. We will discuss the challenges of applying theories, developing legislation, and managing different stakeholders in the context of real-world case studies – and learn how to debate and argue a case along the way.

The module is taught on site. The assignments consist of a parliamentary-style debate, and a parliamentary inquiry submission. We will practice those debates in class.
What will you need to bring with you?
A laptop and note-taking materials will be needed for lectures and completing assessments.
How will you be assessed?
Assessment 1: Debate
