This is a non-accredited programme which is designed for anyone who has an interest in working in the health and social care sector. It will develop skills for progression to further learning and ultimately employment. It is made up of units providing a broad introduction to working in care as well as specific units which offer a taste of care issues. There is also a focus on key transferable skills.

Who is this course for?

Entry Requirements
All applicants are assessed on an individual basis and an interview is essential. A GCSE profile of D-E (3/2) grades is desirable. Good attendance, punctuality, self-motivation and a positive attitude to study should be evident from your Record of Achievement. English GCSE is required at grade 2 or above.

- Providing Personal Care
- First Aid
- Job Roles
You will also study Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths as well as Employability and Personal Development. Developing your maths and English skills will support your main study programme, help your future progression and enhance your life skills.

How will you be assessed?
There is continual assessment using a variety of methods such as written assessments, presentations, displays and practical activities. On successful completion, you will be awarded a College certificate. Your Functional Skills will be assessed by portfolio and online assessments.

Further Study
You may be able to move on to the BTEC Level 2 in Health and Social Care – subject to good attendance, a good work rate and a positive attitude to study. You can also progress to further training opportunities.
