Course Information for Students

This short course offers a foundation in Deaf Awareness and introduces you to British Sign Language so that you can use vocabulary and strategies to have a basic conversation.

There are no entry requirements.

  • Deaf Awareness, greetings alphabet
  • Asking questions, expressing emotions
  • Using numbers, time and celebrations
  • Home and family
  • Work and shopping
  • Leisure, animals and pets

This is a practical course that will be delivered in small friendly groups.

There are no additional costs or equipment requirements.

Your progress will be assessed through informal practical activities.

Further Study  

To progress your skills further, you may wish to enrol on our Level 1 Award in BSL.
