Course Information for Students

This apprenticeship leads to a mandatory qualification for anyone who wants to pursue a career as a dental nurse. 

You need GCSEs at grade 4/C or above. 

You should already be working in a dentist environment, but we can help with this. 

Examples of what you will cover include:

  • Communication skills
  • Customer service
  • How to carry out infection control procedures
  • How to support the dentist
  • How to give good advice on oral health to the customer
  • Recognise and deal with emergencies

There is classroom delivery in College to support your on-the-job training. 

You need a laptop.

You could consider taking your next step towards a career in management, teaching, assessing or GDC registration.  You could also take your qualifications to the next level with a university degree.

You do not pay for the apprenticeship but the employer will need to make a 5% contribution. 

Course Information for Employers

This is a Level 3 Dental Nursing apprenticeship.

The apprentice will need GCSEs at grade 4/C or above.  They should be already working in a dentist environment but we can help you find the right person for the role. 

  • Support and training for the apprentice
  • Paid time to attend College or complete work 
  • Reviews to be completed in a timely fashion
  • Support going through the apprenticeship gateway to the End Point Assessment
