Course Information for Students

Do you want more from life?

Perhaps you would like to develop your communication skills and build your confidence through practical activities. Maybe you want to get more involved with your community, develop your skills for independent living or get a job…

This programme will help adults with learning difficulties / disabilities to develop a range of skills for life and work.

There are no minimum entry requirements for this course. You should want to become more confident in working with other people and to improve your skills.

We will plan your programme with you based on what you are interested in and what you would like to achieve. You will work on a range of practical activities.

You might work with others to plan, cook and serve a meal. You might work on creative projects such as gardening or focus on your health and wellbeing. If your aim is to get a job, you will learn a range of work skills and you will complete work-related projects and/or a work placement.

Contact us to tell us what you are interested in and find out what we can offer you!

This course will be delivered on-site and/or in the community.

If you are cooking, you will be asked for a £4 per day contribution towards the cost of your food.

If you are going out into the community, you will need a travel card or money for bus fares. You might want to bring some money for shopping or to buy a drink or lunch, too.

You may need to provide protective clothing or equipment for some of your practical activities.

If you want to keep something that you make, there may be a charge for this.

You will work towards your own personal targets. You will review these with staff regularly and decide together when you are ready to set a new target.

You might use your new skills in a job, at home or in activities in your community. Perhaps you will decide to continue your education to build on the skills you have developed.
