Would you like to develop your communication skills and build your confidence - maybe through working with others to plan, cook and serve a meal; working on creative projects like gardening; or working in our community cafe? This programme helps adults with learning difficulties / disabilities to develop skills for life and work.

Who is this course for?
This programme will help adults with learning difficulties / disabilities to develop a range of skills for life and work. Perhaps you would like to develop your communication skills and build your confidence through practical activities, such as cooking, gardening or working in our cafe in the community. Maybe you want to get more involved with your community, develop your independent skills or get a job.
Entry Requirements
There are no minimum entry requirements for this course. You should want to become more confident in working with other people and to improve your skills.
What will you learn?
We will plan your programme with you based on what you are interested in and what you would like to achieve. You will work on a range of practical activities.
How will you learn?
This course will be delivered on our Broomfield site and/or in the community.
What will you need to bring with you?
If you are going out into the community, you will need a travel card or money for bus fares. You might want to bring some money for shopping or to buy a drink or lunch too.
You may need to provide protective clothing or equipment for some of your practical activities.
If you want to keep something that you make, there may be a charge for this.
How will you be assessed?
You will work towards your own personal targets. You will review these with staff regularly and decide together when you are ready to set a new target.
Where next?
You might use your new skills in a job, at home or in activities in your community. Perhaps you will decide to continue your education to build on the skills you have developed.
