Course Summary

Psychology is defined as the 'science of mind and behaviour'. This course is the opportunity to explore the world of Psychology from different perspectives and methodology which can range from the highly scientific to the introspective.  With a focus upon psychological knowledge, investigation, thought, the influence of others and biological influences, the breadth of knowledge the course covers provides an excellent grounding in the subject.

 

Entry requirements

This course is aimed at adult learners. A good level of maths and English is required, for example a grade C or equivalent at GCSE is highly recommended but not essential.

Course Content

The course content has a range of topics that cover some of the most pertinent areas of study within the field, such as:

  • Memory
  • Perception
  • Development
  • Social influence
  • Language, thought and communication
  • Brain and neuropsychology

How will I be assessed?

There are two external examinations that take place in May, each an hour and forty five minutes and structured as:

Section A: multiple choice, short answer and

extended writing (25 marks)

Section B: multiple choice, short answer and

extended writing (25 marks)

Section C: multiple choice, short answer and

extended writing (25 marks)

Section D: multiple choice, short answer and

extended writing (25 marks)

There are no additional costs. However, textbooks are available for this course from a range of distributors.
