Over five weeks we aim to equip beginners with a basic grasp of the language needed to communicate in Spanish.  We will cover a variety of situations that a holidaymaker or visitor would be likely to encounter.

Entry requirements

The course is for adults aged 19+.

No previous knowledge of Spanish is required.

Course Content

We will cover key phrases and vocabulary along with anticipated questions and answers likely to be needed in each situation.
The focus is on listening, reading and speaking. A small amount of writing will be necessary, although the emphasis will be on oral communication on themes such as:

• Greetings and salutations
• Numbers, currency, prices, asking to pay
• Dates and times
• Booking tickets, bus, train, etc
• At the hotel/caravan and camping site
• Shopping/groceries
• Booking a restaurant/ordering a meal/drinks
• Meeting people
• Asking directions

Each week we will start by revisiting the previous session to reinforce learning.

How will I be assessed?

Learners will be encouraged to work with each other in a warm and supportive group atmosphere.  There will be an emphasis on speaking, repetition and listening but those wishing to write things down will be encouraged to do so.
