We offer training that enables an animal medicine advisor to prescribe and supply animal medicines for Companion Animals according to the UK’s legal requirements.
Working with AMTRA, the independent regulator that keeps a register of Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs), we offer the Base and Companion Animal (Level 4) modules leading to the C-SQP qualification.
You need some basic literacy and numeracy skills as well as some basic knowledge of animal care.
You should be aged 18 years or over.
Companion Animal Module
Exams and viva for both modules must be booked through AMTRA. Contact: email@example.com or call 01359 245801
Learners must enrol directly with AMTRA before booking a training course at Derby College. Registration and examination fees are paid directly to AMTRA. The fee paid to AMTRA will cover provision of a training manual and the examination.
The fees detailed under costs are for tuition of the exam content only and are paid to Derby College.
Following successful completion of these modules, the learner will be able to apply knowledge from areas as diverse as legislation, animal physiology and internal/external parasites of companion animals to the animal medicines and pet industry.
Carla Davies came to Derby College to re-train as a dog groomer and is now fulfilling her dream of working with animals after securing a part-time job at Kennel Gate in Nottingham.
As part of her course, she was matched to the job opportunity through the College’s pioneering recruitment service established with the REED NCFE Partnership. They alerted Carla – who had been an office worker since leaving school – to the job opportunity and helped her with her CV and interview techniques.
When I heard about the job opportunities and support available through the REED NCFE team, I decided to go for it and was over the moon when I was offered the job. It is a dream come true and I have also returned to Derby College for an evening course to gain more qualifications in dog grooming.
