Gas Safety Centre Expanded

The East Midlands Gas Safety Centre has re-located to purpose-built workshops at Derby College’s £48 million Roundhouse vocational campus and expanded the range of courses available to the industry.

The Centre, run for the past ten years by Derby College at the Wilmorton and then Mason’s Place sites, is now part of the £1million construction academy at The Roundhouse – offering a wide range of industry relevant qualifications throughout the year.

New courses focusing on the installation, service and repair of solar energy and water harvesting equipment have been introduced at the Centre with specialist equipment installed, in addition to the programme of Gas Safe (former Corgi registered) legislative qualifications.

Vocational Programme Manager Glyn Stenson explained: “The move to purpose-built premises within The Roundhouse campus has enabled us to upgrade and expand the equipment for training and assessment – particularly in line with the Government’s renewable energy agenda.

“The Centre is open throughout the year with a extensive programme of gas training and assessment courses which are all relevant to the gas industry and focus on meeting the needs of regional businesses and their employees.”
