Falconry Skills
Derby College is running a special evening course to introduce people to the fascinating world of falconry.
The 22-week Beginning Falconry course is open to anyone, regardless of whether they own a bird of prey or not, and starts at Derby College’s Broomfield Hall land-based industry campus near Morley on Wednesday January 27 between 6.30pm and 9pm.
Tutor and professional falconer for more than 30 years, Chris Miller, explained: “We work with a number of different birds of prey during the course including falcons and hawks and provide all the equipment so learners only need to turn up for the course with a thirst for knowledge.
“As well as handling the birds and learning the essential flying to fist techniques, we look at a wide range of issues associated with keeping birds of prey including food preparation, legislation and health and hygiene.
“This course is therefore ideal both for people who are thinking of starting falconry as a hobby or those who are purely interested in these magnificent birds.”
