Derby College has stepped up plans to sell its site at Prince Charles Avenue  in Mackworth.

An outline planning application for the mixed use development of the 20 acre site including residential, health, leisure, community facilities and living accommodation for the elderly has been re-submitted to Derby City Council.

Commercial property agents Rigby and Co are proactively marketing the site as a development opportunity - inviting expressions of interest to enable the College to make informed and responsible decisions about selling the site.

Derby College Principal David Croll explained: “The majority of students and staff previously at PCA have now moved to The Roundhouse and the rest of the curriculum and administrative areas still on the site will be moving to other College locations from Easter 2010 onwards.

“Money raised from the sale of the site will be re-invested in other College sites – particularly Broomfield Hall in Morley and the former South East Derbyshire College sites.

“The College is working with Derby City Council to ensure that sports facilities at PCA continue to be available for the community to use.

“We have been an important part of the local community in Mackworth for many years and will ensure that this site is kept secure and maintained in the period before it is sold.

“We are confident that a site of this size will attract significant interest from the development community and it will be fantastic opportunity to create new facilities for the local community.”
