Derby College named Training Provider of the Quarter

Provider of the Quarter

Corporate College @ Derby College is celebrating being named The Learning and Skills Council’s Train to Gain Provider of the Quarter after meeting their delivery targets and achieving a success rate of nearly 90 percent for over 10,000 learners in the past year.

Commercial Director for the Derby College Group Mandie Stravino was presented with the award at a Training Provider network meeting at the Belton Woods Hotel near Grantham.

High quality training is critical to the success of Train to Gain and Corporate College was the first provider in the East Midlands to achieve the prestigious Training Quality Standard (TQS).  In addition to the generic quality standard (part A) they have now achieved vocationally specific excellence (part B) in six diverse sectors critical to the economy of the East Midlands.  The quality of initial advice and guidance to learners is an important foundation upon which to build a successful learning partnership and the achievement of the Matrix Standard by Derby College is testament to their proficiency in this respect.

And Derby College isn’t just shouting about the six excellence awards in retail, healthcare, hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism, adult social care, facilities care management and manufacturing and engineering together with the Training Quality Standard. It has just been awarded the Matrix Standard as testament to the high quality of initial advice and guidance provided to employers and learners.

Tony Belmega, Director, Train to Gain for the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) East Midlands, said: “The Provider of the Quarter award celebrates the success of those delivering Train to Gain funded courses in the East Midlands.

“This is the fourth award of its kind and showcases the excellent contributions that providers, like Derby College, make. It is more important than ever before for all of us to continue to develop our skills and for businesses to offer training to their employees.”

Train to Gain is the Government’s flagship skills service run by the Learning and Skills Council to help businesses develop and succeed.

Group Commercial Director Mandie Stravino, said: “Corporate College is the leading skills service provider for businesses throughout the UK - specialising in delivering bespoke training packages to help businesses get more of their people, do more of what they should be doing, more of the time.

“The Train to Gain Provider of the Quarter Award is our most recent accolade and further demonstrates the positive impact we have on the economy.”
