Are you unemployed, 19 or over and in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance or the Work Related Activity Employment Support Allowance? Or are you in receipt of another benefit and need skills training to get into work?
If so Employment World at Derby College has free programmes on offer.
Based at St Peter's House, in Derby City Centre, Employment World provides training to give you the skills you need to join or re-join the workforce.
Free courses run throughout the year at Employment World.
As well as courses in employability skills, we also offer free courses in Retail and Workplace Skills and vocational training based around working in a specific industry.
Between April and July of 2011 our courses were successful in helping 50 people into employment.
Adult careers advice is available free of charge at Employment World. You are welcome to contact the office by phone to arrange an appointment – or stop by if you are in town.
Employment World also provides support for local employers looking for staff by hosting recruitment and selection days.
In partnership with Jobcentre plus, we provide Pre-Employment Training linked to working for a particular employer. In the past we have worked with Sainsbury's [link to case study], Next Homeware, Iceland, Argos and Genting Casinos.
In September 2011 we are continuing our work with Sainsbury's and are working with Royal Derby Hospital to provide skills training for facilities job roles including: Porter, Ward Hosts & Hostesses, Switchboard & Helpdesk Operatives, Catering Assistants and Healthcare Cleaners.
