Amy Scott
After studying A-levels at The Joseph Wright Centre, Amy ran for the position of President of Derby College Students’ Union and was elected by students across all college sites in June 2009.
As figurehead of the Union, her main role is the representation of students and in implementing policy. She provides the ‘voice of the students’ to the Corporation and Senior Management for the benefit of the college and all students within it. Working closely with the Union’s Executive Committee and Union Council, she oversees the running of the Union, ensuring the existence of a wide range of student services and enrichment activities. At the beginning of November 2009, Amy was also elected by her peers onto the NUS Further Education Zone Committee – the first of its kind within NUS aiming to allow Students’ Unions to directly influence NUS policy. Within DCSU, she aims to increase student participation across all Derby College sites and to promote involvement in more national campaigns including, the battle against the potential rise in University fees, and the CALL campaign.
