This course will enhance apprentices’ skills in supporting children or young people’s learning in schools or colleges. It also develops their responsibilities so they can work independently with groups of children and/or equips them to support the learning of pupils with special educational needs.

Horticulture students from Derby College Group (DCG) have scooped a Silver Medal at BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2026, one of the UK’s most prestigious horticultural events, held at the NEC Birmingham, with their stunning show garden, ‘The Artist’s Garden’. 

This A-level enables learners to explore, research and acquire techniques while developing their skills, knowledge and understanding of Fine Art. It provides a thorough and rewarding study programme, exploring traditional methods and/or digital techniques. You will undertake extensive practical and theoretical/historical studies, with the discipline of drawing at the core.

Students studying Practical Horticulture and Landscaping at Derby College Group (DCG) are preparing to take centre stage at one of the UK’s most prestigious horticultural events, BBC Gardeners’ World Live, held at the NEC Birmingham from 18 to 21 June 2026.
