Tilly sees her future in filmmaking after choosing DCG creative media diploma
Media student Tilly Wild has always loved everything about filmmaking so was pleased to find her ideal course at Derby College Group when she left school.
Tilly, 17 is in the first year of a two – Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media at DCG’s Joseph Wright Centre and is loving it.
She said “My course is fun. I’ve always liked watching films, then finding out about the different film directors to see how they do things. It’s so interesting.
“At college I like the practical side of filmmaking best, getting to use the cameras and film equipment.”
Tilly, who lists comedies and coming-of-age films among her favourite film genres, first got her taste for a career in the broader media while at school.
She added: “Media studies was my favourite school subject by far. I liked looking into how films and magazines were produced. It stood out for me as being much more interesting than the other subjects we were learning.
“When I left school, I looked into all my options, including A-levels then saw the Derby College course I’m on now. I really liked the sound of it.”
“Coming to college has been a completely new experience as I didn’t know anyone on my course.
“I’ve made new friends and got to know my teachers. They’re very good at giving advice and feedback.”
Tilly definitely plans to go on to higher education when she finishes college next year.
She hasn’t decided on which university or which course yet, but it will definitely be a media degree with an emphasis on filmmaking.
I’ve made new friends and got to know my teachers.
