Student Bursary’s

Here at DCG, we are committed to helping our students overcome any financial barriers which might prevent them from making the most of their educational opportunities.

Careers

The College Careers team can support all students with a range of things, including: making decisions about their next step options, ways to identify and develop their strengths, skills and abilities in relation to their next step; plus, practical help with making applications and preparing CVs.

To book a Careers appointment for support with a range of careers issues, including Next Steps guidance and option choices, students, or their parents/carers, can email: careers@derby-college.ac.uk

A range of UNIVERSITY SUMMER PROGRAMMES and TASTER EVENTS

These are a great way for students to experience what university life is like. From subject taster sessions to social activities, they’ll meet fellow students, from all over UK, and, in many cases, explore a subject of their choice at a UK university.

This year many Universities are offering in person events (but there are also virtual events available). All summer events have different: entry criteria, subject specialisms, duration and closing dates.

If your child has a University they’re interested in applying to- it’s worth checking their website to see if they’re offering any summer programmes or Taster events.

Or, check out the information on the UCAS website, where you can search through a list of all available summer opportunities: University Taster Courses | UCAS

Please contact the Careers team for advice on summer opportunities or for support with making applications- careers@derby-college.ac.uk

IMPORTANT DEADLINE! *UCAS reply by deadlines

If your child applied through UCAS this year, please encourage them to regularly check their UCAS Hub, as this will tell them which date they are required to reply to any offers they have received (they will receive reminder emails about this from UCAS as well).

If they do not reply (via their UCAS Hub) by their given date, all of their offers will be automatically declined.

The next ‘reply by’ dates are:

  • If they received their last decision on or before 18th May 2023, their reply date is 8th June 2023 (except if they are using Extra to find a place)
  • If they receive their last decision on or before 12th July 2023, their reply date is 17th July 2023 (including Extra choices)

Further details on what different types of offers mean and replying to them, can be found at: Deadlines for Accepting University Offers | UCAS
