Course Information for Students

This course is for current DCG students who have work experience and now feel ready to progress into paid employment.  Students will be assigned a Job Coach who will support them throughout. Students will develop their employability skills and work-related English and maths in the classroom, while mastering their practical work skills within their workplace. 

You need to be a current DCG student, aged 18-24, with an EHCP and an idea of where you would like to gain employment. At interview, you will need to be able to demonstrate that you want to work.

Students will develop their employability skills including relevant aspects of maths and English to support their progression into paid employment. The content can be adapted to the needs of the student and employer. Students will be supported by a Job Coach as and when needed on their placement days.

You will be in College for one day a week to work on developing your individual skills to support your placement. The other two days will be on placement.

A pen, lunch or money to buy lunch and drinks.

You will develop targets with your employer and teacher which you will work towards. These will be reviewed half termly.

You could progress into paid employment.
