Rapper Loue Marc found his focus on DCG Games Design course

Musician, rapper and keen gamer Loue Marc has always been fascinated by how music is used in computer games and his experience at DCG further sparked his creativity.

The former Level 3 Games Development (Design) student went onto the University of Derby to study Music Technology and graduated in 2015.

Since then, he has worked in a music studio – releasing an EP and touring the UK.

He has also taken a second career as an occupational therapist in mental health nursing which is further inspiration for his music – rapping about identity, health and his own life experiences.

Loue said: “At Derby College I found I could focus on the side of education I was interested in and the whole experience was great.

“I now work at Cygnet, a private hospital in Derby as I needed a job with more permanency during Covid. It works. Mental health matters a lot to me and through mental health nursing I’ve found a way of tying my art into my music, so that music and health cross.

“I write and play my own songs but I’d also like the chance to work and collaborate with other musicians and I still want to get into music for games.

“That was my angle at Derby College and at university. The music used in games has a massive impact. I know from the games I used  to play how powerful it is.”
