Broomfield Equine HE programme Leads To Dressage Coaching Career

Dressage coach and trainer Georgia Brereton knew she was always going to work with horses one day.

Now 23, she has been riding since the age of four and after leaving school, she enrolled at Derby College to train for a career in the equine industry.

After completing a level 3 diploma in Equine Management in 2015, Georgia progressed onto the degree programme in Equine Science, Management and Training at Broomfield Hall.

As well as gaining these qualifications, Georgia also learned about dressage which has been invaluable with her career choice.

Georgia is now a UKCC Accredited British Dressage Coach. She holds British Equestrian Federation coaching qualifications to level 2, and she will be starting her level 3 course next year.

As part of her job, she travels to stables around Derbyshire, teaching dressage to riders aged between 15 and 50 as well as riding horses for her clients.

Georgia said: “I would definitely recommend Broomfield. The facilities are brilliant and the lecturers are great.  They are so supportive with everything, not just the course content.”

“One of the best things about the equine courses is the variety and the flexibility to learn within each module. I enjoyed all the modules but especially liked anatomy and physiology which were fascinating.”

Working with horses means Georgia’s day begins at 6.30am and doesn’t finish until early evening, but, she says, it’s worth it.

She added; “I get to ride so many different horses as well as my own lovely seven-year-old pony, Heaven. We started competing together in dressage events in the summer and he’s doing really well.”
