Elliot Poplar from Matlock celebrated gaining a distinction in his Professional Construction T level.
Elliot, 18, who attended Anthony Gell School in Wirksworth, is doing a degree apprenticeship with civil engineering group Danaher & Walsh in Leicestershire while studying with the University of Derby.
Currently working in various locations as a site engineer, he has always wanted to go into construction.
He said: “My dad’s a builder and it’s an industry that’s always interested me. I liked college. My course was so different to anything I’d done at school.
“I’m sure I wouldn’t have got this job without the work experience I did on my T Level.”
