HOW TO REPORT AN ABSENCE/LATENESS

If your child is unable to attend College they must inform us. They can do this by completing the ‘Absence Form’ on the DCG website Report your absence

Or, go to the College homepage, scroll to the bottom to the ‘Quick Links’ section and find Report an Absence or Lateness.

If you can’t access the internet you can report absences by calling 0800 028 0289.

ARE YOU AN EMPLOYER?

IF SO, YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN SUPPORTED INTERNSHIPS!

Supported Internships enable you to access trained, enthusiastic employees at no cost to yourself. Break down barriers to employing people with inclusion needs, with full support, whilst developing a diverse and positive workforce.

WHAT IS A SUPPORTED INTERNSHIP?

  • A partnership between an employer and a learning provider, supporting people with an EHCP and inclusion need into paid employment.
  • A hands-on training programme of around 12 months based mainly in the workplace.
  • A training programme where both the employer and intern are fully supported by the learning provider to ensure a positive experience for all.

HIGHER EDUCATION FOCUS

For Level 3, year 2 students’ parents/carers (those applying for HE)

If your child is applying for Higher Education (via UCAS), the internal deadline, for their completed UCAS application form and tutor hand-in checklist is 27th November.

Your child’s tutor will support them through the application process, and they will arrange to meet with your child once they’ve completed their application to go through the hand-in checklist.

There are a range of online resources for students to support them with their UCAS application; these include– a guide to the UCAS Hub, a personal statement builder, a Step by Step guide to the UCAS form and an online version of the ‘Everything You Need To Know About Applying For Higher Education’ guide (paper copies of the guide available from the Careers Advisers on site). Your child’s tutor will be able to signpost them to the resources or, alternatively they can contact the Careers team to request a link.

Students, or parents/carers with UCAS related questions, can contact the Careers team by email: careers@derby-college.ac.uk or the link Careers Adviser on your child’s site:
