Higher and Degree apprenticeships

Opportunities are now being advertised by large employers for their higher and degree level apprenticeships. Applicants will need to be on the second year of a level 3 qualification and have 5 GCSES (these are opportunities at level 4-6).

These applications are extremely sought after and competitive so applications need to be of high standard. Support is offered to students to complete their applications by the careers team at DCG careers@derby-college.ac.uk

Here are our 5 top tips to search for higher level apprenticeships:

  1. Visit employer websites and check the school leaver vacancy section
  2. Visit University websites and check their degree apprenticeship offer
  3. Check the government website Find an apprenticeship – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
  4. Check UCAS apprenticeship search function UCAS | jobs | Choose from 8,866 live vacancies
  5. Plus register on Success at Schools Success at School: Search Jobs and Course

Remember:

  • Large employers may support a range of higher-level apprenticeships (not just in their main business area)
  • Employers will advertise at different times
  • Employers will want to see different skills and capabilities evidenced
  • Employers will have different recruitment methods
  • You can save your search and get vacancies sent to you by registering
  • All apprenticeships function differently

Rolls Royce have over 460 vacancies across all of their business functions:

Manufacturing Engineering – Digital & IT Solutions – Engineering – Nuclear Engineering Finance – Professional – Supply Chain Management – Project Management – Commercial – Materials Engineering – Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Engineering – Nuclear Business – Aerospace Services Business – Marketing & Digital
