Festive fun as Derby College Group throws open its Animal Unit for a Christmas Open Day

From 11am to 3pm, visitors of all ages can get up close to the college’s amazing animals, with animal handling and feeding sessions giving children and grown ups alike the chance to meet some of the unit’s much loved residents in a festive setting.

Alongside the animal encounters, there will be charity stalls perfect for picking up gifts and stocking fillers, warming refreshments to keep the Christmas cheer flowing, and friendly staff on hand to share information about DCG’s animal care and land based courses for anyone thinking about a future working with animals.

Every penny raised on the day will go directly towards the care and wellbeing of the animals at the College, making it a feel good festive outing with real purpose.

Jon Collins, Vice Principle at Derby College Group, said: “Our Christmas Open Day is one of the highlights of the year for our students, staff and, we like to think, our animals too!

“It’s a wonderful chance for families to share in the festive spirit, enjoy some unforgettable animal encounters and see the fantastic work our students do every day.

“Best of all, everything raised goes straight back into caring for the animals, so every visitor is helping to make their Christmas a happy one.”

Tickets are available on the door on the day, by cash or card, priced £5 for adults and £3 for children.
