The award event, recently held at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham, was a night of celebration and achievement as Further Education, Higher Education, and Apprenticeship students were honoured at a prestigious  ceremony hosted by Lantra.

Out of the nearly 200 exceptional candidates put forward, five talented students and apprentices from Derby College Group were shortlisted as finalists, with two taking home top accolades.

The awards were presented by Danny Clarke, famously known as The Black Gardener, adding a touch of inspiration and star power to an already memorable evening.

The event was an evening of celebration, industry insight, and inspiration. Talks from leading professionals provided valuable perspectives, culminating in the much-anticipated awards ceremony.

The LBEL Awards are a partnership between Lantra, the land-based training body, and Landex, the representative body for land-based colleges and universities.

Animal Care students Tobias Holmes and Carter Carter won the Animal Studies Learner of the Year and the Animal Care and Management Learner of the Year Award respectively.

Whilst three more students were named as finalists for their outstanding achievements in a highly competitive field. Their success is a testament to their dedication and the quality of education and training they received.
