Blooming success for DCG’s Ilkeston Community College

The Estates team at Derby College Group (DCG) have clinched a coveted silver medal in the Erewash in Bloom awards for the third year running.

The high standards of planting and ground maintenance at DCG’s Ilkeston Community College have been recognised again in the category for business, commercial and places of worship which was jointly won by Treetops Hospice in Risley and Brooklands Court in Long Eaton.

DCG Director of Estates Iain Baldwin and Grounds Maintenance Technician Matt Sandall attended the awards ceremony organised by Erewash Borough Council and held at Morley Hayes Golf.

Awards were presented by the Mayor of Erewash Councillor Donna Briggs and Council Leader Councillor Carol Hart.

This year’s popular competition attracted nearly 90 entries from people across the borough as well as from community organisations and businesses.

Iain Baldwin said: “We are very proud of the work of Matt and the team and it is an honour to have won a hat trick of Erewash in Bloom awards.

“Our community college is in a prime location in Ilkeston town centre and it is important to us to make a positive contribution to the local community and to create a welcoming environment to everyone who works, studies and visits us here.”
