Environmental and Sustainability at DCG

At DCG, we believe that further education has a critical role to play in responding to the climate and nature emergency. As an education provider, our responsibility extends beyond reducing our own environmental impact; we must also equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Our approach to sustainability is built around two core aims. First, we strive to be a role‑model organisation, providing an educational estate that demonstrates sustainability in practice. This includes decarbonising our buildings, enhancing biodiversity across our campuses, and embedding sustainable operations throughout the College. By learning in environments that prioritise sustainability, students can see first‑hand how climate action is delivered in real‑world settings.

Second, we are committed to ensuring that every student who studies with DCG develops the green skills and sustainability knowledge they will need to face future environmental, social, and economic challenges. Sustainability is not limited to specialist courses; it underpins our curriculum, supports employability, and prepares learners for emerging green careers across all sectors.

In 2023, DCG reaffirmed its environmental commitment by pledging to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050, in line with the UK Government’s target. This commitment reflects our wider corporate social responsibility and our determination to play an active role in supporting the transition to a greener future.
