Course Information for Students

This course is suitable for students who want to work with children in either an early years or primary school setting and want to gain more experience in each sector. 

Grade 4 in either Maths or English Language and 3 other GCSE grades 3s and above

On this course you will learn about the practitioners role in supporting children’s learning and development, safeguarding requirements, and placement tasks to increase your understanding of a practitioners role in the setting. You will undertake two mandatory placements, one in an early years setting and one in a primary school setting to meet the course requirements. 

You will also study GCSE Maths or English alongside your course to support you with future progression to level 3/T Levels.

Your timetable will consist of 3 days at college and 2 days at placement each week.

Your lessons will be on site and all resource will be available on Teams to support you with your assessment tasks. 

You will complete 6 mandatory units alongside your placement work booklet 

Notebook and stationary including pens, highlighters etc.

Possibly a folder to keep you work together. 

You will have formative assessments which will support your understanding of the summative assessments required to pass each unit.

This qualification is coursework based and there are no exams.

Alongside the 6 units, you need to pass both placements and complete the tasks within your placement booklet and the skills profiles. 

Following successful completion of level 2, good behaviour attendance and achievement of Maths and English Language you will be eligible to progress on to the T Level in Education & Childcare.
