Who is this course for?
The Manufacturing Engineer Degree Apprenticeship is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in engineering, problem‑solving and innovation within a manufacturing environment. It suits school leavers with A‑levels or equivalent, as well as existing employees looking to progress into an advanced technical or engineering role. Apprentices should be motivated, numerate, and keen to combine academic study with hands‑on workplace experience, developing the skills needed to design, improve and manage modern manufacturing processes.
Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at C/4 or above which must include Maths, English and Science. You must also have achieved an Engineering knowledge qualification such as a BTEC.
You will complete an interview with curriculum before any offer is accepted.
What will you learn?
You will complete 2 years of the foundation degree in Engineering and the BEng in the final year.
How will you learn?
You will attend college 1 day per week over 3 years to complete your degree. You will also be assessed in the workplace completing work-based projects and assessments.
What will you need to bring with you?
A laptop would be beneficial.
How will you be assessed?
Through assignments, exams and work-based projects and assessments.

Apprenticeship summary
The Manufacturing Engineer Degree Apprenticeship is designed for employers looking to develop high‑level engineering capability within their organisation. It is suitable for recruiting new talent or upskilling existing staff into roles that support productivity, process improvement and innovation. The apprenticeship enables employers to grow technically competent engineers who can apply advanced engineering principles directly in the workplace, helping to address skills gaps and build a sustainable pipeline of future engineering leaders aligned to business needs.
Are they any entry requirements for my apprentice?
5 GCSEs at C/4 or above which must include Maths, English and Science. They must also have achieved an Engineering knowledge qualification such as a BTEC.
What is required from the employer in the workplace?
Provide the apprentice with one day per week to attend college and complete off the job training. The apprentice will also be required to have time allocated with their workplace assessor to complete work-based assessments and take part in progress reviews.
Behaviours expected within the role
All apprentices are expected to behave respectfully, safely and professionally.
What qualification will my apprentice gain?
Degree in Engineering.
Level 6 Apprenticeship.
What will the assessment look like?
They will complete a mix of assignments, exams and work-based projects and assessments.
Will my apprentice need to come into college?
One day per week over 3 years.
