Course Information for Students

This programme of study develops your knowledge and skills in leading the internal quality assurance of assessment (IQA), allocating and monitoring the activities of other IQAs to ensure that standards are maintained to a high level and that assessors’ and students’ needs are met.  You will have the opportunity to develop and improve your practice and achieve a recognised professional qualification. 

The course will be delivered through 1-1 tutorials on a flexible basis to suit your needs.  Your assessor will use blended learning methods, including MS Teams and on-site, face-to-face visits in the workplace, to provide advice, guidance and support to enable you to achieve this qualification.

  • Be in a position to contribute to your organisation’s policies and procedures
  • Be in a position to co-ordinate the activities of other IQAs within a team
  • Access to a qualified and experienced Lead IQA to support you in planning, monitoring and co-ordinating the activities of a team of IQAs
  • Be in a position to organise and manage visits from External Quality Assurers/Standards Verifiers (or have experience of doing so)

The learning programme complements your achievement of the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. During the course, you will undertake one unit: 

  • Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility

The course will be delivered via 1-1 tutorials on a flexible basis.

You will build an e-portfolio of evidence to prove competency and good practice in internal verification. 

You will implement what you have learned in the workplace and improve practices. You can develop your skills to enable effective sampling with the new Apprenticeship Standards and End Point Assessment, supporting assessors with development and assessment within any work environment.  You will have the ability to reflect on and select appropriate sampling methodology to apply in dynamic or diverse workplace environments.

You can also progress to the following qualifications:

  • A Level 3 Award or Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, if your role involves delivery alongside assessing and verifying
  • A teaching qualification
  • A coaching course
  • An Advanced Apprenticeship – Assessor-Coach Level 4
  • Level 4 Award in Understanding the External Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
